Description

In this 7 week course, learners will explore the beliefs and traditions of Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Humanism. This course explores religions with curiosity, respect and understanding.

I am an experienced UK classroom teacher, who gained their teaching qualification in 2007. In the UK, all state schools must teach religious education. This means that I am qualified and have years of experience of teaching children about the variety of world religions. Every Religious Education I have taught class allowed all students to develop their understanding of the different beliefs and traditions that people around the world may have.

Each lesson will explore a religion, and may contain short videos of children talking about their cultures and beliefs, as well as the history and traditions of people of that faith. All religious beliefs are treated as equally valid, and the similarities between them are highlighted.

Along with all of the religions explored, humanist and atheist beliefs are also explored and respected.

Neurodivergency Specializations and Accommodations

I focus on building confidence and foundational skills in a nurturing and empowering environment. I help teens master core concepts, overcome academic challenges, and develop a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.

At the heart of my teaching philosophy lies a belief that learning should be an adventure, sprinkled with curiosity. We can be serious about learning without it always being too serious.

I am a teacher who welcomes all students exactly as they are. I have a lot of experience with neurodivergent children and am a neurodivergent adult myself. Cameras can be turned off if preferred (after a quick hello with the camera on).

When appropriate, I create 'low-demand' classroom experiences, which can work especially well with learners experiencing anxiety or those with PDA. I encourage and welcome participation, but am very quick to adapt to learners who are unable or unwilling to partake in an obvious and active manner. This can mean only using the chat, or even only listening.
