This class is offered on a subscription model:

• By enrolling, you pay for the first session. 
• At that point, your learner is subscribed for a monthly renewal - meaning, your credit card will be charged every month on a recurring basis for the following month's sessions.
• Your learner will remain enrolled in the class until you cancel your subscription.
• You can cancel your subscription and therefore cancel your recurring payments at any time (but will not get refunded for the remainder of the session in which you're currently enrolled).

Although many students remain enrolled longer-term, since since each class session stands on its own, your learner can drop in/drop out at any point in the year without worrying about missing important information. 

Growth mindset abounds in this creative and joyful class! There are no mistakes here - only opportunities for a new direction!

WHAT IS THIS CLASS?

This class is always one of my favorite half-hours of the week, hands down! My goal is to help students think outside the box and enjoy the process of making something without having an expected end goal.

When kids are allowed to let their imaginations run wild without the pressure of creating specific works of art - magic moments can happen! All artists need to make mistakes and experiment in order to learn - so we work off prompts that sometimes can feel like mistakes, eg, tearing a big hole in our papers, and exploring, exploring from there to find different directions.

We won't be doing any cookie-cutter artwork together - all learners' artworks will differ, based on their own ideas and imagination! 

We often end up inventing stories about our artwork, and that's something I encourage - there's a lot of laughter and silliness. 

What they create may not be something "refrigerator'worthy" - but that's ok! This is about finding joy in the experience, and quite often, the results are very amusing. The class listing photo was created by a 6yo artist - it's a coffee-drinking, fire-breathing dinosaur named Bob Jr. (who has a great backstory)!

WHAT HAPPENS DURING CLASS?

In our half-hour together, I'll offer a prompt, which might be as simple as tearing your paper a certain way, or playing a drawing game, or asking for words from students to create a story to illustrate. We'll work together and although I never make people share their work, if they want to share, they can share throughout the class. 

WHAT ART MATERIALS DO I NEED?

Here are the most common materials we use (not usually all in one class period!). I suggest having these things or similar nearby for any given class period. You're also free to bring other materials you like using. 

• PAPER: always! Drawing and/or colored construction paper 
• DRAWING/COLORING supplies: pencil and/or colored pencils and/or markers and/or crayons
• Scissors 
• Glue stick
• Tape (scotch/cellotape)
